Suggested Recipe
The recipe or process of creating fresh-squeezed lemonade is simple…
To create a 16 oz cup of fresh squeezed lemonade:
Cup
The
most commonly used cup is a paper (waxed) squat style, printed lemonade
cup. Variations can work depending upon ones preference. The (waxed)
paper cup is popular because when the plastic shaker is attached to
(shake or mix) the wax forms a seal around the shaker, thus alleviating
the amount of leaking fluid while shaking. The size cup varies upon
preference and availability, but the most popular size is the 16 oz
and the 32 oz. Most offer both sizes with a natural graduation in price
with the 32 oz. Many offer a 32 oz plastic cup with a plastic lid and a
plastic straw. Many variations of prints and colors are usually
available. Some concessionaires have their own cups specially printed
to signify their company logo, colors, or in signifying a specific
special event or fair. Some market the 32oz cup as a souvenir cup. They
also offer or market a refill for a reduced price.
Ingredients
First step
start by adding to the cup, 2 table spoons of sugar (4 table spoons for a 32oz)
Or
Start but adding to the 16 oz cup 2 oz of simple syrup. (4 oz for a 32
oz) (Simple syrup usually will consist of a corn syrup, water and
citric acid) The simple syrup can be commercially purchased or homemade.
Either sugar or simple syrup as the sweetener will work and is only a
matter of preference. Some will argue using simple syrup is quicker in
preparation and mixing time others argue that using sugar offers a
cleaner and more pure taste or flavor. Also, the choice depends on
availability of product and storage space.
Second step
add to the sweetener, the juice of one-half of a lemon. (16 oz cup size) Use both halves of lemon juice for a 32 oz cup.
Third step
remove the lemon rind from the squeezer and add it to the mixture
of juice and sweetener inside the cup. Several reasons for this
suggested step. Most importantly the lemon oil in the rind adds an
extra lemon flavor to the lemonade.
Fourth step
add ice. (Roughly 3/4 full)
Fifth step
fill with water and shake
(Important note — using the purest, filtered water possible will greatly add to the best tasting lemonade) Very important! |
